Jack Burke Jr., who was the oldest living Masters champion and staged the greatest comeback ever at Augusta National for one of his two majors, died Friday in Houston. Burke, a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame, also won the PGA Championship and was equally skilled as a teacher. He built the fabled Champions Golf Club in Houston and delivered lessons along with a dose of homespun wisdom. His passing was confirmed by Steve Timms, the CEO and president of the Houston Golf Association who spoke with Burke's wife, Robin. Burke was part of the original PGA Hall of Fame in Pinehurst and was among PGA champions not ushered into the new World Golf Hall of Fame when it opened in 1998 in Florida.

CNN —Tom Brady may have called time on his football career, but that hasn’t stopped him from keeping a close eye on the NFL this season. Asked why he felt that way, Brady added: “I think the coaching isn’t as good as it was. “I think the rules have allowed a lot of bad habits to get into the actual performance of the game. It’s not up to a defensive player to protect an offensive player. Skewed the game so that players don’t have to be as skilled to be productive.”

DENVER (AP) — The NFL suspended Denver Broncos safety Kareem Jackson four games without pay on Monday for repeated violations of the league's playing rules intended to protect players. On the game's third snap, Jackson led with the crown of his helmet on a third-and-1 run by Dobbs, jarring the ball loose. No flag was thrown and nickel cornerback Ja'Quan McMillian jumped on the loose ball at the Vikings 30-yard line. “It seemed like a pretty direct helmet-to-helmet type hit,” Vikings coach Kevin O’Connnell said after the Vikings' 21-20 loss. CNN —A nurse at a Department of Veterans Affairs medical facility in Texas sued the department Tuesday over its decision to offer abortions services in certain cases and abortion counseling to veterans, claiming the new rules violate her religious beliefs. Though the lawsuit is reportedly one of the first challenges to the new rule, it is not seeking to block the department from enforcing the policy nationwide. Instead, it asks the court to rule that the policy is illegal and unconstitutional and block the department from enforcing the policy at the facility in Temple. The state additionally has a civil enforcement law – authorizing private citizens to bring lawsuits against alleged violators in state court – for abortions performed after around six weeks into the pregnancy. These services are also offered to Civilian Health and Medical Program of the Department of Veterans Affairs beneficiaries.

Oct 13 (Reuters) - Two men have been indicted in Ohio on criminal charges after being accused of cheating last month during a Lake Erie fishing tournament by placing weights in walleyes in a scheme to win prize money of more than $28,000 for landing the heaviest fish. A Cuyahoga County grand jury on Wednesday indicted Jacob Runyan, 42, and Chase Cominsky, 35, on felony cheating, attempted grand theft and possessing criminal tools charges. On Sept. 30, they competed in the Lake Erie Walleye Trail tournament in Cleveland. Participants from several surrounding states competed in the tournament to see which team could catch five of the heaviest walleye fish in Lake Erie. The two men were immediately disqualified and instructed to leave the tournament, the prosecutor said.
Two fishermen captured in a viral video appearing to scam an Ohio fishing tournament were on the hook for multiple crimes, including cheating, authorities said in announcing their indictments Wednesday. Two fishermen were found to have weighed down their fish with lead weights in order to win a tournament in Cleveland. @walleyemafia1 via TikTokThe criminal tools charge stemmed from the pair allegedly using Cominsky’s boat during the competition, the release said. A scandal over the alleged crimes erupted Sept. 30, when a video showed a crowd gathering around the competition's proclaimed winners, Runyan and Cominsky. Ten weights were found inside the fish, with eight of them weighing 12 ounces and two weighing 8 ounces.
